Le Seuil de Mazeyres 2019
Weather Conditions During the Vintage
Conditions were very favorable for this vintage. After a cold January, temperatures in February and March were very mild, promoting early budbreak. Spring was cool and damp, except during the second half of April and June. These spring delays caused the vines’ growth to slow down. From the very first day of summer, the weather changed dramatically, with hot, dry conditions that were highly favorable for the development of the grapes’ aromatic and phenolic potential. This was followed by two heat waves in late June and late July, and a rainy spell in early August. Early September remained summer-like. The Merlot grapes were harvested early to preserve the balance needed for the wines’ refinement.
