Château Mazeyres is located just outside Libourne, in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious.

The Estate
Château Mazeyres ’s history spans nearly eight centuries of winemaking. Situated on an ancient Gallo-Roman site dating back to the 2nd century, the estate carries a legacy deeply rooted in the culture of viticulture.
Centered around its Directoire-style manor house, the château is now developing a modern vision of viticulture, based on respect for natural balances and the pursuit of an authentic expression of the terroir.
At Mazeyres, every decision is guided by the desire to produce sincere, elegant, and vibrant wines that reflect the richness of the terroir, the energy of the team, and the uniqueness of each vintage.
The Terroir
Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Mazeyres benefits from a particularly diverse terroir that contributes to the personality of its wines. The vineyard spans several geological formations where sandy gravel, clay, and iron-rich sand intermingle, particularly on the Catusseau plateau.
This diversity of soils lends the wines complexity, balance, and depth. The gravel promotes elegance, freshness, and aromatic precision, while the clay provides structure, fullness, and texture.
Together, these elements produce wines that are both refined and generous, true to the identity of Pomerol’s great terroirs.

The Vineyard
Château Mazeyres 's vineyard covers 25.5 hectares, making the estate one of the largest in the Pomerol appellation. Cultivated using biodynamic methods since 2011 and certified since 2018, it is managed with constant attention to the natural balance of the soil and the expression of life.
The grape varieties consist primarily of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, complemented by a touch of Petit Verdot. Each plot is carefully monitored to best reveal the uniqueness of its terroir and contribute to the harmony of the blends.
This plot-by-plot approach, combined with biodynamic farming, yields balanced and expressive grapes that accurately reflect the identity of the site and the vintage.
Winemaking Processes
The winemaking process at Château Mazeyres builds on the care given to the vineyard. As soon as they arrive at the winery, the grapes undergo meticulous sorting to preserve the quality of each harvest.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete or stainless steel tanks, depending on the characteristics of the plots and grape varieties. Extraction is deliberately gentle and gradual to respect the identity of each terroir and prioritize finesse over power.
This approach results in precise, balanced, and elegant wines, where the velvety texture characteristic of Mazeyres finds its full expression.
