VINTAGES
Château Mazeyres 2013
Management: Alain Moueix
Technical Manager: Jean-Michel Bernard / Ludovic Guibert
Weather Conditions During the Vintage
Winter and early spring were cold, with slightly above-average rainfall, which caused a delay in vegetative growth. Precipitation was heavy in May and June. The heavy rains surrounding the flowering period—more than 120 mm in a week in some areas—led to exceptional levels of fruit drop and small berry size. Summer, though late, was hot and sunny, with frequent thunderstorms in July and early August. Veraison was slow to set in due to moisture in the soil. Fall was wet. It was necessary to bring forward the harvest on certain plots, as the grapes became highly susceptible to gray mold as they approached optimal ripeness.

Tasting
The wine has a raspberry-red color with violet highlights. The nose is beautifully intense and refreshing. It offers a bouquet of fresh fruits—wild strawberries and cherries—with delicate spicy notes of white pepper. The palate is delicate, and the tannins are supple. The wine delivers a sensation of freshness and finishes with vibrant fruitiness. A wine that is both enjoyable and elegant for this delicate vintage.
